Liz Grylls was a contestant on the Great British Sewing Bee in 2020.

 

Elissa Madin

Elissa Madin is an embroiderer and textile artist from Shropshire. Her work takes inspiration from a lifetime of collecting curios and antique objects, combined with a passion for social history.

Elissa is a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework and has strong technical ability in historical embroidery techniques. Her work has seen her collaborate with renowned brands as Anut Cairo, Alexander McQueen, Lock & Co and Ruben Montini and her work has been exhibited at New Designers and even featured on the side of a hot air balloon.

She is also passionate about sharing her love of embroidery on social media, gaining a passionate following on Instagram and TikTok where she shares her work and educational videos on all things embroidery.

 

Adam Sews

Adam Sews is a a quilter, garment sewist, bagmaker and pattern designer. He uses Juki machines for each aspect of his sewing from domestic to industrial. Adam uses a TL2200QVP mini for quilting on a quilting frame as a mini longarm. For bag making he’d never be withouthis Juki DDL7000-a7 as it sews through heavier weight fabrics with ease. For sealing edges and garment construction Adam uses the MO-2500 with the ability to quickly flick a switch for a rolled hem and the other capabilities it’s the perfect overlocker with industrial technology to keep up with all sewing needs. The tractor foot also helps “climb over” those bulky seams.

 

MARCUS HOLLEY

I started sewing in 2019 after being inspired by watching The Great British Sewing Bee season 5. Since then, I have been avidly making and creating. I love my Juki overlocker because it is so hardworking, you know as soon as you use it that it is the upper echelon of sewing machines. The build quality and the smoothness of the moving parts are of a superior nature. I also love how Juki customer support in the UK is so helpful and accessible. Juki staff are always happy to help with any problems or queries, as well as being eager to explore different ways of using the machine. I use a lot of heavyweight fabrics when I am making my housecoats, and where other machines stutter the Juki goes through them without any hassle.

Lauren Tedstone

Lauren Tedstone, quarterfinalist of series 9 of BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee. Her machine, given to her many years before by her grandmother was finally put to use in 2019 when Lauren taught herself to sew. Starting with small projects for her children, Lauren then went on to garment sewing and is on a journey to curate and create a complete handmade wardrobe. A big lover of fashion trends, she loves creating key timeless classics that have professional finishes and longevity. Lauren is also a family orientated person, often sewing for her children and family.

“I came across Juki early into my sewing journey as their machines are known within the fashion industry. I’ve always been interested in their domestic machines and their capabilities. For me I want my garments to last and would love the same for my machine. Juki UK being a family owned business aligns with my family orientated personality so I look forward to being part of the Juki family!’

TONY WHITE

When embarking on my sewing journey, I knew that I wanted a sewing machine that was able to cater for a wide variety of projects whilst being durable enough to last. I loved the wide selection of practical sewing stitches that Juki machines offered, but there was also an array of decorative embroidery stitches to choose from as well. This has enabled me to explore both practical sewing whilst also enjoying decorative makes, including personalisation using letter embroidery stitches. A decade later, I still use the same machine as it has all the functions I need as a sewist.

As my skills have grown, my Juki machine has allowed me to develop, enabling me to explore new and exciting skills and projects from dress making to quilting. I know that whatever I want to do, my Juki machine will be versatile enough for the new sewing adventure!

Sallieann Harrison

Sallieann is a patchwork and quilting tutor/designer with over 20 years’ experience and has an online web shop – Sallieann Quilts – where she specialises in designs featuring Liberty fabrics. Sallieann is a designer and demonstrator for Sewing Street TV, works freelance for Quiltmania, and is a tour expert for Arena Travel.

“When I bought my first Juki (the TL 2010Q) in 2013, I was immediately smitten. Although it is only a straight stitch machine, it did that one thing so wonderfully well, no faff just a solid easy to work with machine with oodles of extra throat space! The Juki MO 1000 air threading overlocker came next – who knew that threading an overlocker could really be that easy – I now use it to finish the edges of all my quilts pre binding. More recently, when I saw the Juki HZL
UX8 at the CHSI show I fell in love – perfect blanket stitch and such beautiful ease of movement with free motion quilting – I had to have one for my growing Juki collection.

Jenny Jackson

Jenny is patchwork and quilting designer specialising in English Paper Piecing. Jenny runs a business called Hashtagsew and loves designing modern, bright, and geometric quilts and homeware. Jenny is a designer demonstrator on Sewing Street TV channel and has just released her first book English Paper Piecing Workshop.

Jenny became a Juki Ambassador in 2019 after falling completely in love with the JUKI NX7 when having a play on one. Jenny says ‘the reason why I love my Juki so much is because it is a quilters dream machine. It has an extra-large throat which means quilting a massive quilt is a breeze as it fits soooo much through the throat, it also has a built in walking foot which means no faffing around changing feet every 5 mins. The NX7 quilts like a dream, both straight line and free motion!’

Clive Bruder

Clive started sewing when he was around 10 years old. He and his mum made some curtains for their home on an old hand cranked sewing machine that was given to him by a relative. He says it was his BEST GIFT EVER!

He went to college and studied textile design. From there he went to university to study a Fashion BA Honours Degree at University college for the Creative Arts in Epsom. This is where he really honed his skills as a sewer and pattern cutter.

Since his husband Mark appeared on The Great British Sewing Bee, Clive has been behind the scenes supporting Mark to build his business but now its his time to build a career in sewing. Clive has appeared as a guest designer on Sewing Street, you’ll often see him at sewing shows across the country in one capacity or another. He is also now looking to release his own sewing patterns too so watch this space. Clive is also campaigning to get more men, lads guys, and boys into sewing! #boyssewtoo

Clive says “Nothing makes me happier than being at my sewing machine and being creative. The Juki sewing machines that I own are now firmly part of my everyday sewing are great quality machines. ( they also all have names! ) I love the Juki machines because they’re built to last and that’s important if your thinking of doing a lot of sewing…which I am! Not only that the Juki UK Group have amazing customer service and really do look after their customers. They’re a great bunch ! I’ll always recommend people thinking of buying a good quality machine to always go buy a Juki.

Adam Brooks

Adam was a contestant on the Great British Sewing Bee in 2021.

Adam is from Leicester and was taught to sew at the age of six by his nan. He currently knits for his young nephew whose nickname for Adam is Abba because Adam is a self-styled ‘Dancing Queen’. Adam loves the stage and studied Performing Arts at university before going on to work as a cruise ship entertainer and being promoted to Cruise Ship Entertainment Director.

After trying our machines at a Sewing Exhibition Adam decided the Juki build quality was the perfect match for his sewing requirements.

Janet Poole

“Hello, I’m Janet, I am an enthusiastic home sewer, I was a quarter finalist in series 5 of The Great British Sewing Bee and that experience really extended my sewing knowledge and experience.  I love sharing what I know and am constantly learning new things. I sew for myself and my family, and really enjoy making well finished things that fit properly.

I use a Juki DX7 sewing machine, it is a workhorse with bells on.  Lots of good utility stitches and a great buttonhole system, plenty embroidery and alphabet options and a great selection of feet. It handles everything I have tried, with ease.  I also have a Juki MO654DE overlocker, Juki MCS1500 coverstitch and a Juki MCS-1800 machine which require very little adjustment, and simply do what I ask of them, without fuss or fiddling.  I can’t ask any more.“

Mercedes Ferrari Plumridge

Mercedes lives with her husband and two cats just outside Brighton and was a contestant on Series 5 of The Great British Sewing Bee.

She says “having a trio of machines, the NX7, MO-654DE and MCS-1800 it is the quality of the machines along with the quality of the stitching that I love.  Whether I am sewing silk chiffon or using upholstery fabric to make a coat, I know I can rely on my Jukis to produce a garment I am proud of, both inside and out.“

Natasha McCarty

Two years ago, Mark’s husband Clive (who also sews on a Juki machine,) applied for him to enter Series 6 of The Great British Sewing Bee, and life hasn’t been the same since.

Mark’s time in the sewing room, working alongside an incredible bunch of creative, enthusiastic and hardworking individuals, both in front of and behind the camera, gave him the push he needed to be able to change his life and refocus on the things he loves the most.

Suzie Bentley

Suzie graduated from Lincoln University with a degree in fashion. Recently married and living near Boston, she enjoys teaching Sewing with Suzie classes and one to one tutorials.

Suzie describes herself as a unique sewing enthusiast which led her to start her online business. Susie uses the Juki DX7 to create her own brand of Momma and Mini Me matching outfits. She’s passionate about sustainability and sews her own clothes.

Martha Milne

Martha’s married with 6 grown up children and lives in the UK.

She uses Juki machines to teach free-motion quilting techniques.

Martha works with Juki to expand and nurture the creative community of stitchers that is Juki Club.
